Effects of salt on freezing point of water :: Lab Report
                                                       Blank 1 Blankity Blank Blankity Blank Mr. Blank 4/9/02 Effects of Salts on the Freezing Point of Water      In this experiment, you will study the effect that several solutes have on the Freezing Point of water. When a solute is dissolved in a liquid, the temperature at which that liquid freezes decreases, because the molecules of the solute become attached to the water molecules, making it more difficult for the water to form its crystaline shape and form into ice. This process is called Freezing Point Depression. In this experiment, you will be determining which of five salts most affects the Freezing Point of water.      Each salt will have a concentration of one mole. A mole is the atomic weight of the compound multiplied by one gram, in 1000 ml of water. Since you will be using only 100 ml of water each time, then you must divide the atomic weight by 10 before multiplying it by one gram. You will be using a computer-interfaced Temperature Probe to monitor how much each salt decreases the freezing temperature of water, and a graph of your results will be plotted using the computer. *PURPOSE: To learn which type of salt lowers the Freezing Point of water the greatest amount. *PROBLEM: Which type of salt lowers the Freezing Point of water to the lowest point?                                                        Blank 2 *HYPOTHESIS: The KCl will lower the water’s Freezing Point the most, because Potassium has the lowest ionization energy out of the five metals that are bonded with Chlorine, and perhaps it will bond more easily with the water molecules, keeping it from freezing. *MATERIALS:           *Power Macintosh or Windows PC     *10-ml graduated cylinder           *Vernier computer interface          *ice           *LoggerPro                    *salt           *Vernier Temperature Probe          *stirring rod           *ring stand                    *100 ml of 1M calcium chloride           *utility clamp                    *100 ml of 1M magnesium chloride           *one test tube                    *100 ml of 1M sodium chloride           *600-ml beaker               *100 ml of 1M potassium chloride           *water                         *100 ml of 1M lithium chloride           *triple-beam balance               *weighing dish *PROCEDURES: 1. The Role of Teachers as Nation Builders
The role of teachers in the building of a nation can not be ignored. It is they who influence the immature minds of the youth and tries to mould the living stuff into various forms. It is they on who depends the future of the nation. Hence, they are the most important part of the society. In the past, teachers were considered respectable figures even by the kings and the emperors, because only teachers were there to guide and advice them in hours of crisis. They were the true benefactors of the society.With the change of time they lost their dignity to some extent. Still, they are considered the backbone of a nation, and a society. Teachers are the real guide of the students. With their deep knowledge of the subject and teaching technique they can impart valuable information to the students. They can guide them towards noble deeds, studies, health, and cleanliness and above ail the moral values of life. All these qualities enable a child to grow into an ideal citizen of his/her natio n. Teachers are considered the noblest section of the society.This increases their responsibility towards nation and the students to a great extent; they must be dedicated to the service of the students. Their own actions and high ideas about life can easily shape the young minds into good personalities and responsible citizens of tomorrow. They are a guiding light for students throughout their lives. The importance of the role of the teachers as an agent of change, promoting understanding and tolerance has become more obvious today. This places enormous responsibilites on teachers who participate in the moulding of the character and minds of the new generation.Now days, the whole scenario has been changed. Teachers and parents are engaged in blaming each other. Parents are displeased with them because their sons and daughters do not do well in the examination. Teachers blame the parents that they do not pay much attention on their wards due to lack of time. Even we do not find any accord between the teachers and the students. The overall result is that the students have become aggressive, bold and daring- They are less concerned with their studies and think more about other activities. The teachers become helpless at this juncture.This leads to dissatisfaction and frustration among them. They do not get proper respect from the students. In addition to this, the teachers are not paid highly and regularly. This makes their situation miserable. It is necessary to improve the conditions of the teachers. Only then they will continue their job with full vigour and zeal. Only then they will discharge their duty towards the students as well as the nation in true sense of the term. Only then their potentialities will shine in the new generation, the real hope of the nation.

Art Museum Visit Essay Example For Students
Art Museum Visit Essay I went to the San Diego Museum of Art. They had all kinds of art from different time periods from different parts of the world. They had a special exhibition on Indian art and a gallery of photos about the history of America. At first I went to Asian art section, which had some stuff from Japan and a sculptures related to Buddhism. There was this collection of swords that I found kind of interesting. A piece (painting? ) by Yoshitoshi Mori caught my eye, it was called Warrior on a Horse. I liked it because the horse looked very cartoony. I think it was because the eyes were rather large. I went into another room with European art. The portraits I saw really put mine to shame, but there were plenty of ridiculously pale women and children back then. There was a panel called Mystic Marriage of St. Catherine with Saints and Angels by a workshop called the Master of Frankfurt. I thought the angels wings looked neat, it nice to see something different than the traditional white wings. I also saw this painting by Francisco de Zurbaran called Lamb of God. It was a depiction of a lamb tied up with a halo around its head. I really liked the concept of that. I also liked Daniel Seghers Garland of Flowers with the Holy Family. It looks like memorial for the Holy Family, or a grave marker. I just think it looks pretty. I didnt really find the Photo Gallery on America that interesting. It was called Changing America. Im very critical on photographs, it doesnt take that much skill to press a button, and the picture is a perfect representation of what you are trying to depict. So I better be totally blown away by the subject of the photograph. Some photos seem to do their job; they did capture the essence of the time. But others I looked at just made me say, what Another room featured only landscapes and cityscapes. I prefer landscapes/cityscapes to be without people. I dont know why, I just like it like that. I also prefer photos I take when I go on vacation to be without people, drives my mom nuts. But anyways, in the room of 15 works, only one was without people, and it wasnt really that great a scene. I went into the gallery of American paintings, and saw this really nice landscape of a volcano. It was called Sandwich Islands, done by Jules Taverner. Plus, it didnt have any people in it. It was very pretty, I liked it a lot. There were also a lot of still lifes, I thought it was funny to see dead animals in them. Although the place was huge, nothing really caught my eye. There was also a special gallery on Indian art (from India). I browsed by it pretty quickly, I didnt see anything new. I grew up in Malaysia, which is pretty rich in Indian culture, so nothing really surprised or amazed me. Overall the museum was ok, it wasnt the greatest art museum Ive been to, it wasnt the worse either. Looking at the older painting I got this surreal feeling. I couldnt believe that this picture was done at the time the tile said it was done. That this exact canvas was worked on hundreds of years ago. And if I followed this piece back in time to a certain point, some guy would be painting on it. I dont know why, it was just hard to grasp. I also noticed that the more modern the artwork, the more it gets further away from naturalism. The more recent works are not as real looking as the older ones. I really like naturalism better; I think it takes more skill to realistically depict something. When I look at a painting I want to feel like the artist is better than me, or seem more intelligent than me. It easier to look at a beautifully done landscape and feel that, than look at 3 squares. I know that the artist probably does have a thought process he/she goes through before painting merely 3 squares on the canvas, but it still doesnt impress me much.
